We are delighted that the new Sports Centre, and flagship of the School’s Sports MasterPlan, is now complete and being enjoyed by pupils this term. With an extensive range of facilities and views across to the JM Mills Cricket Pavilion and sports pitches, the Sports Centre provides an impressive gateway to all School sports.
The multi-functional space accommodates a new fifty metre swimming pool with a submersible boom and movable floor, an eight court hall offering adaptable playing space for a range of sports, as well as the opportunity for whole School assemblies through use of retractable bleacher seating. In addition there is a fully equipped fitness suite, a dedicated dance studio, three further multi-purpose studios and a café. The existing Sports Centre, renamed The Acre, has been retained through the Sports MasterPlan for School use, thus providing us with maximum flexibility for pupil sporting provision.
Landscaping and construction of the final courts around the Sports Centre is now underway and will be completed this term. Government restrictions permitting, Sports Centre staff are now preparing to open to the public in October for pay and play activities with memberships available from November.
