Dick Moore has been a housemaster, English teacher, rugby coach and headmaster, and has a passionate interest in the emotional well-being of young people. He has strong views on how we should be dealing with the epidemic of adolescent mental health issues but he is not a doctor, counsellor, psychiatrist or psychologist. His approach is based on many years of experience with young people as a headmaster, friend and father. His key message is about the unsustainability of the ‘always on’ mentality. “There needs to be time for self-balance. Being happy is much more than just getting top grades. You should work hard AND play hard, eat well and sleep well, exercise, get some fresh air, accept your emotions, laugh and smile, and most of all talk, talk, talk.”
